how many miles have i ran? how many more minutes of this stupid eplitical do i have left? what is that smell? how many calories has the girl beside me burnt today?
ya know, thoughts from the regular insecure gym-goer.
anyways. i love my ipod. great for road trips, as a sedative, for times of relaxation. but i am anti-listening to your ipod on the way to class. it's just plain awkward when you see someone you know or someone sees you and you wanna have a conversation but you can't hear because you got ben folds or backstreet boys blaring in your ear. then you have to take your ear buds out and have to cut the convo short because you are late for class. i know.. im over exaggerating.. but it bothers me. anddd
seriously? how do you make good, meaningful conversation like this?
sooo moving on. i tried it last semester ONCE and that happened to me. & from then on i boycotted the movement of college kids everywhere.
present day: raleigh is freeeeezing right now. & all i can think about on the way to class is:
how cold i am? and why am i not wearing at least three scarves? or how many more steps until i get to a heated building? wheres the hot java people!?!? .. and kind of like the gym.. i needed something to steer my focus elsewhere. so i popped in my ear buds on the way to my late class yesterday. i knew most people would be done for the day.. and i wasn't going to be walking with anyone i knew.. so i figured the coast was clear.
well one of my favorite songs came on, learning to fly by tom petty. the sun was shinning, my hair was graciously blowing in the wind, people exchanging smiles everywhere, i felt like i was in a music video for this song. seriously, i felt like tom petty was following me with his guitar, just strumming along to my footsteps. it was an awesome feeling..& i completely forgot how cold it was.
it was really wonderful. & i have decided to veto my decision to boycott ipods on the way to class. well.. as long as a good, upbeat tune is on.
do me a solid.. and scroll down to the bottom to pause the music playing.
then click play on this music video.
seriously, an amazing song.
now go update your itunes!
Love the post...I love the tunes as much as anybody. But like texting in public, I think Ipods should not be used wherever a possible social situation could arise.
ReplyDeleteThis is kinda ironic statement from an Iphone user.
