the one for sarah, the senior.

Here is a couple of shots from a senior session I took over Christmas break.
Sarah is too precious.. && I loved that when I told her to be serious, she nonchalantly bit her right lip -- too cute!

the one currently.

BEWARE -- rambling to come.

I guess I am still not adjusted to life back in Raleigh.  Whenever I get even a sliver free time, I sleep.  You see, I have this incredible talent of being able to sleep on demand.  Give me 4 or 5 minutes to fall asleep && BOOM..  Im out. I hope this is a talent I have for the rest of my life!

On the topic of adjusting, I have realized that this is semester is already substantially different from the rest.  Being a biology major, most of my semesters are memorize, memorize, memorize!  However, this semester is papers, memorize, homework, memorize.  Im not loving it.. that is for sure.

Anyways.

This week I realized that with my morning routine, I am an old lady.  I get up, shower and immediately throw on my robe and bedroom slippers.

I turn on the Today show.

I light a candle.

I drink coffee from my favorite antique cup, which was a gift from a friend!

I get up so early, so I can take my time getting ready.  Making sure I take moments to really breath in the morning, check the weather, prepare for the day.  Yes, old lady at heart I am.

This past week I read a blog that had a "current" survey and I decided to take part in it (&& modify it a little).

Current Book
I am currently reading Water for Elephants.  I loved the movie and my mom had the book, so I picked it up one day.. and read a tiny bit before bed most nights.

Current Pandora Station/Playlist/Song
The Head and The Heart.  Oh my word.  However, my favorite song of right now.. is a tie between "My Girl" by the Temptations or "The One That I Want" by The Lennings.

Current Food
Hands down, tomato soup.  I probably eat it every day.  It happened by accident at Brugger's... I am very thankful I never confront people on messing up my order in restaurants.

Current Favorite Color
Navy.

Current Favorite TV Shows.
Grey's Anatomy, Parenthood, Modern Family.  I am also loving that my absolute favorite show of all times comes on Nick at Night... EVERY night. :)

Current Needs.
A cute dress for my friend's birthday party next week.  Black ink cartridge.

Current Celebrity Crush.
My number one man since I started college...
Sir John.

Current Indulgence.
Candles and yoga.

Current Outfit.
J Crew tank and t-shirt.  Patagonia with blue jeans and Vans.

Current Excitement.
I found one of my CD's I burned in high school.  It has some old school rap, boy bands and a dash of scream-o.  I am so excited for the ride back to Raleigh tomorrow!

A greater excitement is the devotional my mom just got me called "finding calm in the chaos"... which by the title alone is the perfect depiction of what my heart is aching for.
I CANNOT WAIT to dig into this! :)

Current Mood.
Im pumped to be eating my momma's cooking tonight.

Current Favorite Quote or Verse.
"& my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus"
Philippians 4:19

Current App.
Hands down, instagram.  I LOVE looking at everybody's pictures.

the one since we've talked.

Since we've talked last... I have returned to Raleigh, the spring semester has started back in full swing, and I've turned the big two-one.

Since we've talked... my brother had decided to become the Cam Newton of high school basketball.

Since we've talked... I've taken some more senior pictures.

Since we've talked.. I've co-cooked a delicious meal with friends && we decided to watch the Miss America Pageant instead To Kill A Mockingbird.

Since we've talked.. I've gone with a proud uncle to see his two favorite boys.

Since we've talked.. life has been going a hundred miles a minute.  I am praying that it is just the hustle and bustle of starting a new semester and adjusting back to life in high-speed Raleigh.  This week Im praying to get 7-8 hours of sleep, to get on top of my schedule of endless assignments, edit some pictures, and ride my new bike! :)

Now back to the Golden Globes!  Happy Sunday night!

the one for 2012.

I love New Year's.  It is the perfect excuse for change.  It enhances our vocabulary to words like potential, capable, risk, commitment, give, love.  It provides us with the opportunity to realize what we stand for and we want to stand for.  It's a time to make goals & expect more from yourself.  Wait, did someone just say goals?

First, let's talk December.

Memorize at least two verses of scripture dealing with the Christmas season.
Isaiah 9:6 & 1 Thessalonians 5:23
feel good about exams
Celebrate a glorious Christmas

read Luke 2 with my family
take some pictures of the babies

study for GRE
go to the Drellie Concert

make, type, print, decorate my 2012 goals

2012 goals...

Write more thank you notes // send more letters
Read 5 books
Go on a cruise
Train && run a half marathon
Pray more specifically
Donate clothes
Take a weekend trip with Sam
Ween myself off the snooze button
SAVE MORE MONEY
Commit to a workout schedule
Volunteer somewhere
Cook, cook, cook, cook some more!

So there are my 12 goals for the year of 2012... I feel like there is a difference in resolutions and goals.  I think resolutions are more personal, spiritual, life-changing commitments.   My friend Mollie wrote her New Year's Resolution.. && I think it is completely beautiful.  Im thinking Im gonna take on this resolution as well!

For New Years.. Sam & I hung low.  No big shin dig.  No family get-together.  Just us.  && it was so much fun.  We cooked supper together, we face-timed his sister, brother-in-law & nephews, watched a couple episodes of the Walking Dead & then watched the ball drop.  :)  Simple.  Low key.  Very much us.

Along with my yearly goals... I am going to continue to have monthly goals.  I am hoping that is year is a year of challenge.  I wanna push myself, & remind myself of how capable I am.  So  here we go..

January 2012 Goals

[one] buy a lavender chamollie candle && take a bubble bath
[two] ride my new bike every week & weekend!
[three] update my blog header
[four] knock out one of the 5 books for 2012
[five] try a new recipe or restaurant
[six] celebrate my 21st birthday

Here's to new challenges!  Happy New Year's!  Let's see what ya got, 2012.
